The Gallery – Shanghai Port Cruise Terminal

The ‘Gallery’ was the first building to be completed on the site of the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal on the North Bund in Shanghai in 2008. A 5-floor expressive sales office structure, which now has been turned into an art gallery. The idea of a ‘Chinese Screen’ has been implemented as its three-dimensional hexagonal facade for the main office structure. A façade wrapping the building and roof seamlessly. The main body of the building is linked via bridges to a monolithic rectangular service structure with a metal mirror façade. The building is partially lifted above the ground displaying angled ‘dancing’ columns in the entrance area.
