Vanke’s ‘Lucky Star’ project is situated at the heart of the new Hongqiao transportation hub adjacent to Shanghai’s second airport. The project is conceived as a unique and coherent unit with individual parts and aims at creating a local focal point; a green oasis in a high density environment. Clearly defined urban blocks to the surrounding streets break up radially towards the centre of the development creating intimate urban spaces and sunken courtyards. The central gardens blur the perception of ground floor and basement by employing ramps, sun-terraces and sky-bridges that interconnect the buildings for easy access to the offices as well as providing a pleasurable environment to shop, eat, drink and linger. The star-shaped master plan offers a new ‘sky-mark’ to the west of Shanghai.
